On Monday night news broke claiming that star Arsenal full-back Hector Bellerin is close to penning a new contract at the club.
The 21-year-old had been subject to interest from the likes of Barcelona and Manchester City, but the player himself was quick to wave off the speculation and reaffirm his desire to stay with the north London club.
Bellerin has become a key figure in Arsenal's long term plans, and is often regarded as one of the best young players in his position in the world, so it will be a huge coup for Arsene Wenger to commit him to a new deal.
The club have begun the season well, and currently sit in fourth place, just two points off leaders Liverpool, but missed the chance to go top by failing to beat arch rivals Tottenham on Sunday.
And the young Spaniard has been a key figure in the club's early form by featuring in all 11 of Arsenal's games, recording one assist.
He has even managed to break into the Spanish national team recently, suggesting that his progress is being noted at home and it likely won't be long before he can claim a serious challenge for a regular spot in the team having graduated from the under-21 set up.
Since breaking into the Arsenal setup in the 2014/15 he has gone on to make a total of 78 appearances for the Gunners, scoring three times. His form even saw him displace seasoned France international Mathieu Debuchy, who was forced to move on in order to find regular first team football over the summer.
Furthermore, his speed has earned him a number of plaudits from fans and pundits alike. At the start of the 2014/15 season he smashed the 40-metre sprint record set at Arsenal by Theo Walcott by 1/100th of a second, making him one of the fastest players in the English top flight.
With all of that under his belt at such a young age, the news that he is closing in on a new deal is huge for Arsenal fans, who understandably took to Twitter to celebrate the reports.
