Antoine Griezmann and Paul Pogba have struck up a proper bromance this year.

The two world-class French internationals became close mates at the 2016 European Championships - Griezmann revealed in September that they were united by criticism following the opener against Romania - and they even went on holiday together to the United States after the tournament finished.

Griezmann has described Pogba as a “genius” and it’s clear that a great mutual respect exists between the two superstars.

Photos were posted on social media of the two buddies embracing earlier this week as they reunited ahead of France’s 2018 World Cup qualifier against Sweden on Friday.

Les Bleus are also in action against the Ivory Coast in a friendly next Tuesday evening.

Griezmann: I always ask Pogba about United

Griezmann, who has been linked with a move to Manchester United in recent months but insists he’s happy at Atletico Madrid, has admitted that he asks Pogba questions about the Red Devils when they’re together.

"A future transfer depends on how I feel,” Griezmann was quoted as telling Sky Sports by Goal. “Right now I'm a father so a move to another city would not be the right thing [to do].

"I'll see if I want to do something else in the future though. Right now I'm very happy at Atletico and I still want to win trophies with this club.

"I always ask Pogba about United. I think Manchester United is a huge club with a really good infrastructure. I ask Paul about some of the players. If they're really that good and if [Jose] Mourinho's really that good.

"You hear a lot but in the end it's the same with United as it is with PSG. Right now I don't see me moving to a new club. It would be awesome to play together with Paul one day."

Why would Griezmann want to leave Atleti?

United fans will take that as a come-and-get-me plea by Griezmann while his final sentence will certainly increase the speculation surrounding his future.

However, Griezmann has no obvious reason to want to leave the Vicente Calderon.

He’s the star player in a team competing for both La Liga and the Champions League; he’s playing under one of the world’s best coaches in Diego Simeone and he’s scoring goals on a consistent basis.

Perhaps he feels that one day, if he’s to land his hands on the Ballon d’Or, he’ll need to leave Atleti for one of Europe’s super clubs.

United may have fallen into that category a few years ago but right now they’re competing in the Europa League and priced at 28/1 to win this season’s Premier League title after just 11 matches played, despite signing the likes of Pogba and Zlatan Ibrahimovic in the summer.
