Rumours began to surface online yesterday - spearheaded by Boston Celtics analyst Brian Scalabrine - that the Eastern Conference franchise had a shot at trading for Klay Thompson.

The report took a lot of people by surprise - as it should - as the two-time All-Star appears to be very settled with the Golden State Warriors and their newly-assembled 'super team'.

Golden State were quick to denounce the rumours, saying they were happy with the quartet of All-Star talent they have at their disposal - is anyone really surprised?

Scalabrine, who sent the Celtics fans into a state of dizzy excitement and anticipation at what their future could look like, took to Twitter to insist the source was not his own, and he had simply read something over the week 'that [he] thought was interesting.'

The article that whipped Celtics fans into a frenzy came from a site that, as pointed out by Rodger Sherman on Twitter, has also recently predicted the start of World War III in 2016 and also that the world would end on November 14 due to the super moon.

Sadly for Celtics followers, it seems it was all one big troll. It would come as a huge surprise to ever see the 2015 champions let Thompson willingly leave the organisation.
