Argentina needed a hero against Colombia, with their 2018 World Cup qualification hopes hanging in the balance following last week’s 3-0 defeat to Brazil, and up stepped you know who.

Lionel Messi, the player considered by many as the greatest footballer of all time, scored an extraordinary 25-yard free-kick in the 10th minute (which you can watch by scrolling down this page).

The Barcelona superstar then produced a magnificent assist for Lucas Pratto 13 minutes later (which you can also view by scrolling down this page) as Argentina doubled their lead.

Messi’s free-kick was a thing of beauty.

He took two short steps before lashing the ball off the underside of the crossbar, past the outstretched David Ospina, and into the back the net. No goalkeeper in the world would have saved it.
