Jon Walters has committed his future to Ipswich by signing a new contract until 2012.

Premier League clubs were reported to have been interested in the Republic of Ireland B international, with intense speculation linking him with a move away from Portman Road over the summer.

But the striker put pen to paper before Tuesday`s 1-1 draw with Charlton, and manager Jim Magilton was happy to seal the deal. "We`re delighted that Jon has agreed to a new contract," Magilton told the club`s official website.

"There was a lot of speculation about his future during the summer, but we made it clear that we wanted him at this Football Club.

"There were Premier League clubs showing an interest in him, but we have always seen him as an important part of what we are building here."
