On Thursday night, Carolina Panthers fans witnessed a horrible sight as linebacker Luke Kuechly was carted off the field during their win against the New Orleans Saints due to a concussion.

The 25-year-old was in tears as he was being taken off the field as this wasn't the first time he had such an injury. He missed 34 days of the 2015 season after he was slow to recover from a concussion, and when another one occurs, it could be very bad news.

However, things may have lightened up for the linebacker if you are to go by a recent Instagram post from his teammate Thomas Davis.

His fellow Panthers linebacker posted a photo of the two together mere hours after the game had finished with a thumbs up and a smile to accompany it.

The photo had a comment which said: "Luke wanted me to let you guys know that he’s doing fine and thanks for your prayers!!"

It's a relief to see that Kuechly looks okay, but Panthers head coach Ron Rivera did say on Friday that the 25-year-old is in concussion protocol following the hit. No timetable was provided either as for when the player is likely to return.

Carolina will be hoping the linebacker doesn't miss an extended amount of time if they wish to reach the playoffs this season, and with big games coming up soon against the Oakland Raiders and the Seattle Seahawks, they'll want him back as soon as possible.

If he isn't able to come back quickly, the Panthers' season looks pretty much over, as it will be difficult for them to climb out of the 4-6 record hole they have in the NFC South without him.
