A football video game wouldn’t be a proper football video game without the odd, unexpected glitch.

Players running through objects - like the net, advertising hoardings or other players - losing parts of their bodies, celebrating in ways that look plain wrong and other such hilarious bugs have been commonplace through the history of the humble football video game.

FIFA 17 is no different and some of the best recorded glitches have attracted hundreds of thousands of views on YouTube.

But we may have found the most annoying FIFA 17 glitch so far.

Now, we’re all for good sportsmanship in football, but this particular defender needs to get a grip.

Video: Funny FIFA 17 glitch

The video shows a defender applauding after an opposing player’s shot hits one post and rolls across the goal-line before hitting the other.

The defender, instead of clearing the ball to safety, starts to applaud for some inexplicable reason.

Perhaps he thought the goalkeeper had made a top save.

Anyway, while the defender in question was distracting himself by clapping, the opposition striker stole in and knocked the ball into the unguarded net.

Some FIFA 17 players are proper mad

According to Dream Team FC, similar incidents have sparked meltdowns amongst the FIFA 17 community.

“It’s absolute sh** isn’t it? This FIFA it’s the worst it’s ever been,” one user wrote. “It almost always happens to me on throw ins when I want to pressure the players they’re trying to throw it to.”

Another complained: “Sh** like this turns me into a raging caveman, yelling and screaming and occasionally throwing my controller.

“I don’t mind losing to superior players, but when my AI goes full ****** it frustrates the hell out of me.

“And it’s not like this is anything new. I’ve seen similar AI behavior out of every iteration of FIFA that I’ve owned.”

Lighten up, guys.
