Mickie James made her first WWE appearance in more than six years at last night's NXT Takeover: Toronto event and even though her return match ended in defeat to the current NXT Women's Champion, it seems that Mickie could still have a future in WWE.

Asuka and Mickie James took each other to a new level in Canada last night but the sheer skill of Asuka was to much for Mickie and in the end her experience didn't could for very much.

Following the show Triple H appeared on Facebook Live and answered many questions from the WWE interviewer Cathy Kelley and one was based around Mickie's future with WWE.

The former WWE Women's, Divas and TNA Knockout's Champion is only missing the NXT Women's Championship from her list of achievements and it seems that her future in NXT is completely down to her.

Triple H stated that: “I think that’s up to Mickie James, I think Mickie James proved she still has what it takes. I think her next step is up to Mickie James.”

Many fans speculated as to how Mickie would respond to the loss now that she doesn't have anything to return to NXT for, but she could well return to face Asuka in her hometown of Osaka, Japan next month.

Mickie herself appeared on the TJR Wrestling Podcast recently and was asked if she would be open to making a return to the company where she was once one of the biggest female stars.

She responded:  “Absolutely I would be completely open to being on WWE’s main roster again. I also recognize that people talk about WWE’s young talent and they’re all hungry and I totally agree with that because there’s a lot of amazing talent that’s both signed and unsigned. I feel like there’s something unique, special and different that I can bring to the roster.”
