Goldberg says a shocking win over Brock Lesnar at WWE Survivor Series was the best decision

Plenty of WWE fans are still coming to terms with how Goldberg dismantled Brock Lesnar at Survivor Series over the weekend.

In a match that lasted only 85 seconds, the returning Goldberg hit two Spears and one Jackhammer to go 2-0 up against his fierce rival, leaving the fans in Toronto, as well as over the world, stunned.

Nobody really saw the match going this way, with The Beast Incarnate remaining a firm favourite to level things up following Goldberg’s victory against him 12 years ago at WrestleMania XX.

It’s now been revealed that the former WCW Champion is due to stick around, and even compete in the Royal Rumble, while a third clash with Lesnar is also reportedly in the works.

Although it could be a while before we hear from Paul Heyman or Lesnar, Goldberg has finally spoken out regarding the outcome.

Speaking with Brian Campbell of ESPN, Goldberg has revealed the most effective way to win, was to do it in a shocking manner, and he certainly did that.

He said: “I think at this time in my career, the best way to take [Lesnar] down was shock and awe, to do something that nobody would expect against a monster like that.

“At the end of the day, you have smart marks all over the world thinking that they know the outcome of a match.

"I don’t believe any of them thought that was going to be it.”

He’s right; not many genuinely believed it would go that way, and nobody expected it to last perhaps more than 15 minutes.

Defeating Lesnar in that manner certainly raises more questions, and gives the WWE more opportunities to explore other possibilities with Goldberg, in the hope that he can remain a serious threat in the build-up to WrestleMania 33.

While questions regarding a third clash with Lesnar will always come up, he seems to be 100% focused on what the Royal Rumble in San Antonio will break - particularly since The Beast is also rumoured to be in the match.
