Nate Diaz is the last person to beat Conor McGregor in a mixed martial arts fight since Joseph Duffy did so in 2010.
The American’s win over the Irishman at UFC 196 is the only blight on McGregor’s record since he became a high-profile star in the UFC.
Of course, McGregor came back to defeat Diaz at UFC 202 and, while the Californian hasn’t been seen since, the Notorious has added the lightweight belt to his featherweight one.
There are rumours that the duo will meet in the octagon for a third time, and a trilogy would certainly bring in huge numbers for UFC.
However, it’s impossible to know where McGregor will take his career next. He will become a father early next year and there isn’t a timeline for his return.
But if you thought that the 28-year-old, who beat Eddie Alvarez at UFC 205, had removed the UFC from his mind, think again. On Wednesday, he posted an image on Instagram of himself holding a hefty stack of cash to his ear, adding the caption: “Hello I'd like to order some competition please I don’t have any”.
Pretty hilarious. And as the first person in UFC history to hold two belts at the same time, McGregor has shown that he can cope perfectly at varying weights.
Diaz issued a brilliant response
It seems as if McGregor’s success is beginning to irritate Diaz, for he responded to Mystic Mac’s Instagram post with one of his own.
Following McGregor’s win over Alvarez at Madison Square Garden, he famously declared that he’s “ridiculed everyone on the roster”, before adding that he’s not sympathetic at all.
Diaz sought to remind McGregor about UFC 196 and that he does have a blemish on his record.
Diaz added the caption: “Don’t forget”. Check out his response below.
