While Conor McGregor stole the show at UFC 205 with his history-making victory against Eddie Alvarez, other fighters also drew a lot of praise for their performances.

Yoel Romero scored a stunning knockout win over Chris Weidman; Khabib Nurmagomedov put on an excellent display on the preliminary card, while Tyron Woodley and Stephen Thompson battled to a hard fought draw.

Woodley and Thompson rightfully earned the fight of the night award, and the excitement remained after the fight as well when a decision win for The Chosen One was quickly altered to a draw.

However, even though Woodley retained his gold, Wonderboy took most of the praise after he showed his resiliency to remain in the fight, and battle back after being on the verge of a loss.

Most of the welterweight title talk has been revolving around Woodley, and whether McGregor will be trying to capture a third world title, and even though Thompson believes he deserves a rematch, he’s open to a potential super fight with Notorious.

Speaking on Submission Radio, Thompson said: “I think it would be a good fight, no matter what.

“He’s one of the best fighters out there and that’s what we’re out to do. We’re out to fight the best fighters in whatever division, whoever steps up.

“We’ll take on any challenges and I think that’s what fighters do.

“If you’re a champion or not, you should take on all challenges and I think it would be a good fight. I think the fans would tune in to see who would win.”

Thompson has been full of praise for the manner in which the Irishman is going about creating a buzz. Although he thinks a step up in weight may be too much for him, he knows it makes for good business.

He added: “A lot of people look down on people who are successful, but Conor McGregor is successful because he runs his mouth and knows how to put on a show.

“I mean look at his press conferences. People show up to see him just act nuts. Hats off to that guy, he’s a very intelligent and a very smart guy.”

While fans call for legitimate contenders to be first in line, nobody can deny that a battle between Notorious and Wonderboy would be one to remember.
