Not many matches in recent times have split the WWE Universe like the recent Goldberg vs Brock Lesnar bout at Survivor Series.

Some of the fans loved it, some of the fans hated it, but one thing is for sure, all of the fans were left shocked by it.

Goldberg destroyed Lesnar in just over a minute, hitting him with two spears and one Jackhammer, before picking up the clean victory and making it 2-0 against The Beast Incarnate.

The crowd's reaction was very similar to when Lesnar defeated The Undertaker at WrestleMania. There were gasps, silence, and then loud cheers as Goldberg's arm was raised.

With so much hype going into the match, and the fact it was two massive names sharing the squared circle for only the second time, you would think WWE would want a long match showcasing the duo.

However, in just 86 seconds, all the hype, all the build up, was over.

The result caused shock backstage as well as within the WWE Universe.

According to numerous reports, the locker room was left stunned when Goldberg dismantled Lesnar so quickly, and that led to a few complaints backstage, which is a common thing in WWE.

However, one man who had no complaints and was fine with how the match went was Vince McMahon.

Despite initially wanting Lesnar to go over, WWE changed their minds once Goldberg put pen to paper on a new contract, extending his stay with the company in the process.

According to NoDQ, the reason why McMahon was fine with the match ending in 86 seconds was because he felt it would cause a bigger buzz as it would be more shocking for the fans.

He also relies on the WWE Universe having a short memory, and believes one loss to Lesnar won't damage his reputation.
