Most onlookers were bemused by Jeff Fisher and the Los Angeles Rams' decision to keep Jared Goff on the bench for so long.

Goff, the first overall pick in the 2016 Draft out of the California Golden Bears, was seen as the best quarterback available but has had to sit and watch while Dak Prescott, Carson Wentz and more rookies all got to see the field before he did.

Well, the Rams have finally bitten the bullet and benched Case Keenum, handing over the reigns to Goff. Playing today against the Saints, Goff got off to the perfect start with a beautiful first TD pass. Watch it below...

Goff executed a very nice drive down the field on the Rams first possession of the game and ended it with an absolute dime to wide receiver Tavon Austin from 26-yards out.

It was an excellent throw by the rookie quarterback, putting the ball right in the bread basket for Austin to haul in one of the easier touchdowns of his career.

Goff made the first start of his career last week as the Rams took on the Miami Dolphins. It wasn't an easy situation for the youngster in the driving rain as Los Angeles went down 14-10 to Ryan Tannehill and co.

Playing in the Superdome is a much nicer proposition for any quarterback in the league and Goff is showing what he can do. The score is currently 14-14 in the second quarter.
