Vontaze Burfict did a ridiculous dive after getting bumped by Steve Smith

We all thought that diving and trying to con the referees was a move that was purely confined to the beautiful game of football (the round ball version).

However, thanks to Vontaze Burfict of the Cincinnati Bengals, we know that diving has made its way across the Atlantic as well.

As the Bengals took on the Baltimore Ravens in their AFC North matchup earlier today, Burfict came out with a dive so spectacular that Paul Pogba and Sergio Busquets would have been proud of it. Scroll down to check it out.

Burfict starts it all by bundling Steve Smith Sr over for absolutely no reason when the play is far away from the two. Naturally, Smith isn't going to have any of that and he reacts.

As he got up from the ground, Smith bumped his helmet into the chest of Burfict and the Cincinnati linebacker pulled out all of his amateur dramatic skills as he flies through the air with an arched back.

Amazingly, the theatrics somehow worked as Burfict managed to con one of the referees into throwing a flag on Smith that penalised the Ravens by 15 yards.

Here's how former NFL linebacker and seven-time Pro Bowler Lance Briggs spoke about the flop....

Ouch. Harsh but maybe fair.
