Wayne Rooney did something unusual before Anthony Martial goal against West Ham

Football News

Wayne Rooney hasn’t had much to celebrate this season but the under-fire Manchester United forward produced arguably his best performance of the campaign against West Ham on Wednesday night.

The 31-year-old played just behind Zlatan Ibrahimovic and while he didn’t score or provide an assist, he was still instrumental for the Red Devils during the 90 minutes he was on the pitch.

Unfortunately for United fans, though, Rooney is suspended for his side’s Premier League clash against Everton at Goodison Park on Sunday afternoon after picking up a yellow card against the Hammers.

Anthony Martial can expect to start against the Toffees after scoring twice in United’s 4-1 win over West Ham.

The France international has struggled at the start of this season but will have gained some much-needed confidence thanks to his brace.

Rooney just knew Martial would score

In the moments before Martial’s second goal, scored in the 62nd minute, United fans on Twitter noticed that Rooney was already celebrating.

Is this proof that the England international can predict the future?

Zlatan also helped himself to a brace

Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored the other two goals for United, who will face Hull City in the semi-finals of the EFL Cup.

If they win that fixture, they will take on the winners of the other semi-final between Liverpool and Southampton.
