Brighton have agreed a deal with Coventry to extend Kevin Thornton's loan deal on the south coast.

The Irish midfielder, whose initial spell ended after Tuesday night's Carling Cup defeat by Derby, will now stay with the Seagulls for the full 93 days permitted - taking him up until the clash with Swindon on December 28.

However, Thornton, who has made 10 appearances for Brighton so far, will miss Saturday's FA Cup first-round meeting with Hartlepool as City do not want him cup-tied.
