Floyd “Money” Mayweather is a very rich man.
The clue is in his nickname. But exactly how much is he worth?
Well, an article by The Sun, has revealed just that.
Mayweather may have retired from boxing but talks of a return to fight UFC champion Conor McGregor have been widely discussed. The potential fight could be worth £100 million but it’s still not clear whether or not it will actually happen.
What is clear is that the 39-year-old has earned plenty of money during his career. It’s believed he is worth around £510million ($650million), earned from prize winnings and a host of endorsements, according to the Forbes rich list.
In 2007, Mayweather earned his first $10 million payday when he secured a ridiculous $25million for his victory against Oscar de la Hoya.
But that certainly wasn’t his richest fight.
In May 2015, he took on Manny Pacquiao with Mayweather picking up around $220million (£175million) for his victory.
The fight itself is said to have generated an eye-watering $600million (£470million) in revenues.
That figure pales into significance with the amount he earned in his final fight. A unanimous points decision win over Andre Berto saw him pocket a cool $32million (£25million) pay cheque.
Sponsorship is obviously a massive part of modern sport but Mayweather has often said he doesn’t need to be sponsored. However, he has said that he will accept $1million (£800,000) each fight to take these on board.
Previously, he’s been sponsored by both Burger King and Swiss watchmaker Hublot, who agreed to his request.
Worth also takes into account assets and Mayweather brought a $7.7million (£6million) house in June this year. The Miami mansion includes five bedrooms, five bathrooms and even has a “floating staircase”.
Not be fooled into thinking this is his only property, though. He has a $1.5million (£1.2million) house in Sunny Isles beach in Florida and a $2.5 million (£2million) condo at the Ritz-Carlton Residences in LA.
Assets also include cars - and Mayweather is believed to have over 100 vehicles.
A Bentley Mulsanne, a Bugatti Veyron, a Ferrari 458 Italia, a Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano, a Ferrari Enzo and a McLaren 650S are all in the American’s garage.
So, yeah, Mayweather is worth an awful lot of money.
