Josh Donaldson has always been a bit of an unusual character, with his crazy hair styles and over-the-top personality.

The Toronto Blue Jays star's uniqueness showed up in his offseason training, too, as he chose to cross-train with a fighter.

Donaldson and UFC fighter Stephen "Wonderboy" Thompson got together for an offseason workout, with the Blue Jays third baseman trading his batting gloves for boxing gloves.

Donaldson joked that he was going to take his UFC career to the next level, tweeting that he'd been added to the UFC 207 card:

Though his stance could use some work, Donaldson certainly looks the part of a fighter.

Donaldson also shared some videos of his training session on his Instagram page, including this combo move:

With the Blue Jays known for ruffling opponents' feathers a little bit, having Donaldson trained in mixed martial arts may not be the worst thing for him and his teammates.

Though Donaldson looks comfortable on the mat, the Blue Jays hope he'll save his slugging for the baseball field, where he's coming off a 2016 season in which he hit .284 with 37 home runs and 99 RBI.

Toronto will try to make a third-straight playoff run and will rely heavily on a healthy Donaldson to anchor the batting order.
