League Two Dagenham defeated League One strugglers Hereford 2-1 in their FA Cup first-round replay after goals by Paul Benson (17) and Solomon Taiwo (33), with Kris Taylor's striker (34) proving only a consolation.

Rotherham's hopes of a repeat of their Carling Cup heroics were emphatically ended by League Two peers Aldershot who thrashed them 3-0 at Don Valley Stadium. Kirk Hudson (15), Marvin Morgan (55) and Kirk Hudson (81) scored for the visitors.

Southend stamped their authority on Blue Square North side Telford with a 2-0 victory courtesy of strikes from Simon Francis (74) James Walker (79).

Stockport thrashed Yeovil 5-0 at Edgeley Park after Danny Schofield had missed an early penalty for the visitors.

A header from Gary Dicker (six) gave the Hatters the lead before Aaron Brown was sent off for Town. Michael Rose (15), Matty McNeil (42), Anthony Pilkington (48) and James Vincent (90) completed the rout.

Nicky Forster (28) gave Brighton the lead at Hartlepool but they eventually succumbed to a 2-1 defeat following a Joel Porter penalty (66) and Gary Liddle's 70th-minute winner.

Lewis Montrose's 22nd-minute goal gave Cheltenham a 1-0 win at Oldham.
