Marshall: I deserve Scotland chance

David Marshall has pleaded with Scotland boss George Burley to give him a chance to prove himself.

The Norwich goalkeeper, 23, admitted it was frustrating to be left on the bench in last week's friendly against Argentina. With undisputed number one Craig Gordon out through injury, Marshall was hoping to be brought on as a second-half substitute for Allan McGregor at Hampden Park last Wednesday.

"I was a bit disappointed," he told the Scottish Sun. "I found it strange against Argentina. Nobody really said too much, the manager included. In all honesty, I thought that I was going to get a game in the second half - but it wasn't to be."

He added: "If it's only one of Craig Gordon or Allan McGregor in the squad, along with myself, it seems they always get the full 90 minutes."

Marshall, who joined Norwich in a £750,000 move from Celtic in 2007, is desperate for his big break.

"I want to play international football. I don't want to pull out," he said.

"Being involved with the Scotland squad is great, but it has been frustrating for me.

"There are two good keepers ahead of me at the moment, but I deserve a chance.

"I will just have to keep playing well at Norwich City - because that is the most important thing."
