Southend boss Steve Tilson is eager to keep on-loan defender Dan Harding at the club but admits the decision could be out of his hands.

The left-back has been a huge hit at Roots Hall since joining from Ipswich in the summer and has made 17 appearances but while Tilson is determined to extend his deal past the expiry date - in four weeks time - he says the decision will ultimately be up to Championship team.

"I would like Dan to stay here but at the end of the day it's going to be Ipswich's decision. He's done well for us and I've spoken to him already about his future," He told the Echo. "If nothing happens then he would love to stay but if Ipswich decide to sell him to get a bit of money then there is nothing we can do about it."
