Portsmouth striker David Nugent is confident he has not lost his goalscoring touch as he attempts to put his injury nightmare behind him.
The 23-year-old has had a torrid time since moving from Preston in the summer of 2007, with injuries and a loss of form limiting him to just 22 appearances in total.
Nugent told the club's official website: "You don't lose your goalscoring ability. I've proved I can score at my previous clubs, Preston and Bury, and given the chance I'm sure I'll score goals for Portsmouth too."
He added: "The injuries are behind me now and hopefully I can kick on from here.
"I thought I did well when I came on against Hull and hopefully I might get another chance in the coming weeks."
Nugent has often been linked with a move away from Fratton Park, most recently to Everton, who have lost striker Ayegbeni Yakubu for the rest of the season through injury.
But he added: "Now I've just got to try and make an impact and persuade the manager to play me."
