Heurelho Gomes has thanked Harry Redknapp for putting a smile back on his face - but the Tottenham goalkeeper admits he is still playing in pain following a hip injury earlier this season.

Gomes believes the knock he picked up against Stoke contributed to his high-profile blunders and his recovery has helped him regain confidence.

"I'm still feeling pain but the injury is getting better step by step, and I'm very happy," said Gomes.

"I am now in form, a month ago my injury was very difficult. I was not enjoying it. But I knew my quality and believed in myself."

Gomes is now enjoying his football again, adding: "I like a smile so much. This is very important for me."
