Carlisle striker Danny Carlton has joined League Two side Darlington on loan until the end of the season.

Carlton, 25, started his career at Morecambe, making over 200 appearances for the club and scoring 62 goals.

He moved to Brunton Park from the Shrimps in 2007, but has scored just three goals in 51 appearances for Greg Abbott's side.

Carlton rejoined Morecambe on loan last November, scoring two goals in eight games for his former team.

Cumbrians manager Abbott said: "I think Darlington are a terrific club and this is a good move for him."

"It is important that he pushed his career forward as much as he can, and this move will assist him in doing that."
