Stoke manager Tony Pulis has admitted he is concerned at the number of red cards his side are chalking up.

Matthew Etherington's dismissal in the defeat at Sunderland took Stoke's tally to five in their first campaign in the Barclays Premier League.

Pulis told the Sentinel: "We are shooting ourselves in the foot and it is costing us important points. It is affecting us and we certainly cannot have it.

"We are also seeing it from players you would not normally expect to get into that kind of trouble."
