Crystal Palace have failed in their bid to overturn the straight red card shown to Nick Carle during Tuesday night`s goalless draw with Birmingham.

The Australian midfielder was sent off by referee Paul Taylor for a two-footed challenge on Blues striker Cameron Jerome.

Eagles boss Neil Warnock felt Carle got the ball but the FA have rejected the club`s appeal and he will serve a three-match ban starting with Saturday`s trip to Watford.
