Magilton slams performance

Manager Jim Magilton could not disguise his fury at Ipswich's "worst performance" in his three years in charge following the 3-0 home drubbing by Southampton.

Jason Euell netted twice for Southampton before teenage striker Matthew Paterson's first senior strike left the Tractor Boys five points adrift of the top six, having played more games than many of their rivals.

"It's certainly the worst performance since I became manager, without a shadow of a doubt," said Magilton.

"It was three (nil) going on six. It was not acceptable. The crowd had every right to voice their opinion.

"You have to have a few words after a performance like that. You want to know where it has come from. You want to know which players are going to stand up and say a few words. It has stunned the life out of me."
