Stoke edged closer to safety by beating Bolton 2-0 thanks to goals from James Beattie and substitute Ricardo Fuller at the Britannia Stadium.

Beattie made the breakthrough with a clinical finish following a superb through ball from Glenn Whelan.

Whelan also had a hand in the second goal, his effort parried by Jussi Jaaskelainen and Fuller scoring from the rebound.
