Liverpool would probably price Mohamed Salah out of a move if he wanted to leave Anfield this summer, transfer insider Dean Jones has told GiveMeSport.

There has been a bit of talk about the forward potentially departing Anfield at the end of the season, but Jones cannot see it happening.

Liverpool transfer news - Mohamed Salah

According to Football Insider, Liverpool may be willing to sell Salah in the next window as the Reds look to rebuild their squad.

The same outlet claims that Liverpool are likely to demand over £50m for the Egyptian if they do decide to let him go.

They paid £34m for Salah when they signed the 30-year-old from AS Roma back in 2017, as reported by BBC Sport, and it has proven to be one of the best pieces of business the Premier League has ever seen.

Salah only put pen to paper on a new contract last July, so it would be a bit of a surprise if the two parties did decide to go their separate ways ahead of the 2023/24 season.

What has Dean Jones said about Mohamed Salah and Liverpool?

Jones cannot see any team paying the sort of money Liverpool would want for Salah.

Speaking to GMS, the journalist said: "Even if somebody like Salah wanted to leave Liverpool, I think he'd probably be priced out of a move because I don't see who would be buying Mo Salah at this moment in time."

Should Liverpool sell Mohamed Salah this summer?

No, even if they do need money for a rebuild. Any sort of overhaul that would see Salah become a casualty sounds counter-productive.

The Egypt international, who is earning £350,000 a week, according to Spotrac, is one of the top forwards in the Premier League and has been for a while now.

As per Transfermarkt, Salah has scored more than 120 goals in over 200 appearances in the competition. Has he been at his best this season? No. But Liverpool as a whole have not, so it is understandable.

Ultimately, when you look at Liverpool's side, the former Roma man is probably the last thing Jurgen Klopp needs to worry about.

Midfield is more of a concern, with a lot of the German's current options now into their 30s. That area of the squad arguably does need addressing, but Salah should not be sacrificed in order for that to happen. If Liverpool need money, they would be wise to try and generate it from somewhere else.
