Liverpool target Jude Bellingham is more of a priority than Mason Mount for the Reds, transfer insider Dean Jones has told GiveMeSport.

The Chelsea attacking midfielder is being heavily linked with a move to Anfield, and while Jones thinks the Merseyside club will want to be in the conversation to sign him, he expects Bellingham to remain their No.1 target this summer.

Liverpool transfer news - Jude Bellingham and Mason Mount

Journalist Rudy Galetti recently told GMS that Liverpool are trying to convince Bellingham to join them.

The Borussia Dortmund star is not the only English midfielder Jurgen Klopp seems to be interested in, though.

According to 90min, Liverpool are very keen on bringing Mount to Anfield as his contract at Stamford Bridge continues to run down.

His existing deal expires next year and an extension, at this moment in time, appears to be far off in a boost to the Reds and other suitors.

What has Dean Jones said about Jude Bellingham, Mason Mount and Liverpool?

While Liverpool do seem to be interested in Mount, Jones says their focus during the next transfer window will be on Bellingham.

Speaking to GMS, the journalist said: "With Mount, I feel like Liverpool have got a few players that are kind of similar to him. Bellingham, I completely understand, so I'd still say that Bellingham is much more of a priority but that they would want to be involved in the Mason Mount conversation."

Should Liverpool sign Mason Mount?

It is clear that Liverpool will head into the summer with Bellingham being their No.1 target. If they do manage to sign him and have money left over, though, then Mount is definitely another player they should go after.

The 24-year-old, who is valued at around £70m by the CIES Football Observatory, could bring a lot to Klopp's team.

He is versatile, capable of playing as a No.10 and in central midfield, and has a lot of experience at the highest level. As per Transfermarkt, Mount, an England international, has featured for Chelsea on almost 200 occasions.

Mount is also the kind of individual who does a lot off the ball, so he could be perfect for Klopp's pressing style. "He is such a team player, such a hard-working, honest guy," his Three Lions team-mate Declan Rice said (via football.london) back in December.

Chelsea's loss, then, could be Liverpool's gain if he does not sign a new contract and ends up at Anfield.
