Manchester United will go "full steam ahead" on a new contract for Alejandro Garnacho at Old Trafford, transfer insider Dean Jones has now told GIVEMESPORT.

The winger has enjoyed a real breakthrough campaign under Erik ten Hag and looks set to be rewarded with a bumper new contract in the near future to tie him down for the next few years.

Man Utd Contract News - Alejandro Garnacho

In a conversation with GIVEMESPORT just before transfer deadline day, Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth that the club are getting closer with reaching an agreement with Garnacho, and that discussions have been "positive".

Back in December, Football Insider claimed that "United are in no doubt about the wide attacker’s potential and believe he has the potential to be a first-team star."

The report added Ten Hag's side are absolutely convinced his value will sky-rocket in the coming years, and that he has the capability of being a £50m plus star.

What did Dean Jones say about Man Utd's contract talks with Alejandro Garnacho?

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, he said: "Yeah I think ones like this, you can go full steam ahead on. It would take a very strong willed owner to go against deals like this anyway.

"There are football people within the hierarchy that are tasked with this as their job, and that's not going to change once the takeover happens."

Man Utd need to seal new deal for Alejandro Garnacho soon at Old Trafford

While much of the hype around United this season has been on the performances of Marcus Rashford, there's no questioning that Garnacho has also made significant strides over the course of this campaign.

Heading into the Carabao Cup final earlier on Sunday, the exciting trickster had managed two goals and two assists in 13 Premier League games as per Transfermarkt, not least netting an incredible winner against Fulham in the dying moments, and bagging against arch-rivals Leeds United at Elland Road.

Speaking back in November for Sky Sports (via United in Focus), Don Goodman raved about the cameo the young Argentine made in a clash against Aston Villa, saying: "I see what all the fuss is about now. What an introduction he made. He looks sensational."

If Ten Hag can continue to develop him going forward, then United will have a real gem on their hands, and it's absolutely reasonable to think the Dutch coach wants Garnacho's contract sorted well before a potential takeover happens.
