About Newcastle United
Newcastle United is still one of the biggest clubs in English football with an extremely passionate fan base. Despite a lack of success in recent years, the Magpies have a long history packed with silverware and honours to be proud of. Founded in 1892, Newcastle play their home matches at St James’ park and the Newcastle faithful will be hoping to see similar success to what they have already achieved in the coming years.
Throughout the years, Newcastle fans have been treated to watching some very talented footballers in their famous black and white colours. Club legends such as Alan Shearer and Kevin Keegan understood exactly what it meant to play for Newcastle and that love and passion was reciprocated by the Magpies faithful; they will be hoping to see a similar calibre of player at their club in the near future.
Overall, Newcastle have endured great amounts of success in their history. The club has won the First Division - now known as the Premier League - four times, the most recent being the 1926/27 campaign. Despite failing to win a League Cup so far in their history, Newcastle have won the FA Cup an impressive six times, the last coming back in 1955. They have also won the FA Charity Shield once and the Second Division/Championship four times.
On a European scale, Newcastle have had some success. In 1969, the Magpies won the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup. Also, more recently, the club won the UEFA Intertoto Cup in 2006.
