Shayna Andrea Baszler, who uses her real name as her ring name, is an American professional wrestler and former mixed martial artist (MMA) performer. Baszler, standing at a height of 5’7”, is currently signed to WWE entertaining on the Raw brand. After signing for the UFC in 2013, she spent two years with the organisation before moving into the world of wrestling.
Baszler’s career started in the MMA world. Trained by former UFC fighter Josh Barnett, she boasted an overall record of 15 wins and 11 losses from 26 encounters - the first dating back to 2006. During that period, the American won the FCF Women’s Bantamweight Grand Prix Championship once and the TCI Women’s 140 lbs Championship on one occasion.
Although Baszler’s UFC career was short lived - enduring just two professional bouts - she did not let that halt the progress of being an entertainer. Barnett continued to train the American throughout the start of her wrestling career.
In 2015, Baszler started professional wrestling on the independent circuit. Success was scarce, but she did win a few Championships before performing for the WWE brand NXT. This was a thoroughly successful period for Baszler; winning the NXT Women’s Championship twice and NXT Year-End award once, more specifically being crowned Female Competitor of the Year in 2019.
