Nathan Jones has been mocked and compared to David Brent after a rather bizarre post-match interview.

The embattled Southampton manager, 40, was speaking after his side lost 2-1 at home to Wolverhampton Wanderers.

That is despite Wolves being reduced to ten men after Mario Lemina was sent off in the 27th minute of the first half.

Unfortunately for Jones his side were unable to capitalise on their numerical advantage as they slumped to a third consecutive defeat in all competitions.

Saints have just one home win in the Premier League in almost seven months.

It leaves them four points adrift of safety as a result.

What has Nathan Jones said about Southampton's 2-1 defeat to Wolves?

The Welshman was asked to explain where it all went wrong.

He said: "For me the 10 men was to our detriment because I think it made it a free hit for them then in terms of stuff and actually added more pressure.

"It shouldn't be like that. We shouldn't have let them control the game with ten men.

"But once we then had a second chance, we didn't take it, it seemed to galvanise them.

"We had a lot of territory, a lot of balls in and around their box, without really showing the quality we needed to win a Premier League game.

"And then they got a bit fortunate with the first goal, showed one bit of quality, and they won the game."
