Tottenham Hotspur latest transfer news - Allan Saint-Maximin

Lately, The Sunday People [print edition, 19/2; pg 62] reported that Tottenham could make a move to bring in Saint-Maximin in the summer after originally deciding against making an offer for the Frenchman in the January transfer window.

There have been suggestions that the former Nice man could elect to leave Newcastle United in the summer and Spurs could well firm up their interest in the summer if Antonio Conte is to desire more attacking options.

Last month, journalist Rudi Galetti revealed that the Magpies were keen to keep hold of their prize asset, with only a monster bid of around £60 million likely to have tempted Newcastle into considering selling.

Salary Sport understands that Saint-Maximin earns around £93,000 at Newcastle United on a contract until June 2026.

What has Pete O'Rourke said about Allan Saint-Maximin?

Journalist O'Rourke has said that Saint-Maximin is a 'top player' that could definitely make an impact at Tottenham if a move was indeed to materialise.

O'Rourke told GMS: "Yeah, he's a top player St Maximin, we know on his day he can be a potential match winner and he's a real box of tricks he's direct and can score goals, create goals and as I said, he has a part of unpredictability about him as well, so he's got that X factor in the final third maybe some people have questioned Spurs haven't had that this season. There's been too much reliance on Harry Kane and with maybe Son on when not been at his best this season as well while Richarlison has struggled with injuries".

Would Saint-Maximin be a good signing for Spurs?

The 25-year-old is definitely talented enough to be a hit at Tottenham, even despite his struggles with injuries and form this season.

In 2022/23, Saint-Maximin has featured 15 times in the Premier League for Newcastle, recording one goal and three assists, as per Transfermarkt.

Saint-Maximin has also managed to complete an average of 2.3 dribbles per match in the English top flight, demonstrating his characteristic ability to beat his marker and create space for himself to fashion opportunities, according to WhoScored.

Either as a starter or squad player, Saint-Maximin would be an exciting addition to a Spurs side that could use some more attacking invention.
